In this course we are going to discuss a variety of topics, mainly related to an artistic visit in a foreign country. Musicians, dancers, actors and generally performers often visit foreign countries to broaden their network, perform and/or try new things. A major part of organising such a trip (and of course to make it successful) is to be able to communicate with organisations, creators, bookers, organisers and other artists. That’s where your English skills will play a huge role. We will focus on the efficiency of the verbal and communicational skills and also learn how to draft an official letter/email to our dedicated recipients. We will also discuss the ability to self-market yourself in your own field and to present your artistic “self” to the international scene.
At the end of the day you should be able to make your point and also make your needed arrangements with sufficient communicational skills; both verbally and in writing. We will also work on your listening (understanding the key points of conversation and the keywords needed in your field of study) and reading skills (ability to read and understand important emails, letters and relevant details to your field). Fluency of the language will be our main focus during the whole seminar. |
